Our Stud Policy
'To
strive to produce competition horses that are both agile,
fast and have stamina.'
The Pure
Arab has long been realised as the fastest of pure breeds
and it is also reknowned for its tough feet and limbs. Historically,
being able to endure long distance riding in tough terrain.
The Thoroughbred
is the result of years of refinement to produce an animal
of pure speed and grace. Many Thoroughbreds have been top
class competition horses but some have their abilities thwarted
by tense characters and poor feet.
The aim
of the stud was to use a top class competition arab stallion
onto good quality Thoroughbred mares to hopefully produce
the required 50% Anglo Arab Stallion that is bigger than the
Arab, good conformation with the more refined features of
the Thoroughbred.
This was
carried out using, Lone Tornado (click
here) as
the sire onto the well bred mares that the stud had from their
flat racing. After a few years and a lot of fillies, three
suitable colts were bred :
·
Heritage
Neptune (for
more info)
·
Heritage
Eclipse
·
Heritage
Nightshade
It was decided to keep Heritage Neptune for the stud as his
dam had bred winners and he was not related to our other mares
of which the other two were.

Heritage
Orion 25% Anglo Arab (1998)
Heritage
Neptune was then used back onto the Thoroughbred mares to
produce the highly desireable 25% Anglo Arab. These are effectively
a Thoroughbred with extra stamina and better feet but also
are in the height range 15.3hh - 16.3hh which is ideal for
competition. They are also eligible to race.
We now
have our 'product' the excellent 25% Anglo Arab Stallion,
Heritage
Orion, that makes the perfect cross onto bigger
mares to produce agile competition horses.
All our
Stallions are required to perform and are also graded at the
appropriate time in their career.
Our mares
have excellent pedigrees and temperaments. They all have either
a performance record or have bred perfomance.
